Water related issues have permeated all aspects of mine operations; from permitting through mine-closure. There has been a resurgence of enthusiasm for mining activities in the US of late. Many believe mine operations and environmental sustainability to be juxtaposed; however, when taken into account from the earliest stages, they can work hand-in-hand to provide greater efficiencies and improve overall operations, while complying with regulatory agencies and the needs of ‘neighbors’.
This high-level keynote presentation will focus on the challenges, regulatory frameworks, and strategies involved with permitting for new mining operations.
- Implement effective operational and environmental initiatives
- Comprehend the permitting framework for new mines
- Understand the effect that water management has on permitting
- Be a leader in long-term water management sustainability
